The Finals, Week 1 What a crazyass week it has been in AI Land. First, Mario The Hot Boy Lo--er Vazquez unexpectedly quit for "personal reasons," and was replaced by the suave Nikko Smith. This = good news for the Nikko Smith fan club, a merry (and, for a while, bitter) bunch of souls I noticed when I visited the AOL AI message boards the other day. Between the time Nikko was eliminated and the time he was reinstated, there were dozens of "Petition FOX to bring back Nikko!" messages. I'm sure they're happy now! On Tuesday night's show, the idol wannabes sang their hearts out. Lindsey, Nikko, Bo, Anthony and Nadia all did extremely well, and some of the others weren't too bad, either. In other news, Randy, Paula, and Simon were replaced by frog-eating clones for the evening. Their hearing senses being underdeveloped, these Clone Judges could only really guess at how well each singer had performed, and so they randomly spewed comments such as: "That was just okay for me," "That was a little pitchy," and "OMG that was amazing!" Clone Simon tried very hard to be biting, yet witty, as Real Simon is wont to do, and I have to say he did a pretty good job of filling Real Simon's shoes... except for the part where he, you know, complimented the people who sucked and insulted the people who didn't. In other news, the Clone Judges have all died, and the real deals should be back next week. On Wednesday's show, the hauntingly incredible Lindsey was given the boot, while the (just... haunting) Mikalah took second-to-last place.
