If you're a regular AlligatorJuice visitor, you probably know how I feel about 99% of all commercials currently on the air. There's hatred, there's loathing... there's wanting everyone in the advertising industry to have to pay me damages for the the pain, the horrible pain. Anyway, the point is, when a commercial DOESN'T suck, I tend to notice. I also tend to want to climb the tallest mountain and shout wonderful things about said commercial, due to my overwhelming happiness (and relief) at the fact that IT DOESN'T SUCK. Get it? Okay, good.

Um, but climbing that mountain? Yeah, that involves having to leave my house... so, uh... I'll just stick to telling you about them, here.

These are my two picks for current commercials that are not terrible...

GEICO - Tiny House

Geico commercials are what Energizer Bunny commercials USED to be, back in the early 90's or whenever that was. While I do think some of them are cheesy, some are just beyond brilliant. They start out by making you think you're watching a commercial for something else, only to have you jerked back at the end by someone going, "I just saved a bunch of money on car insurance!" blah blah blah. Their latest one is a reality show spoof, complete with a voiceover by a guy who sounds like he really is that announcer guy who did the stupid Joe Millionaire promos, etc. Sadly, the funniest thing about this commercial is probably the fact that it really COULD be a legitimate reality show. I mean, you've seen what kind of crap makes it onto the air... Tiny House could be next!

DR. PEPPER - I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE

This one's just goofy, but it makes me smile. It features two people in a seemingly happy relationship. The guy does embarrassing things for his girlfriend because aw, it's love. Like he'll stand in line to buy tampons for her or whatever. But when she goes after his can of Dr. Pepper one night while they're cuddling? Forget it! He jumps off the couch with lightning speed (which is funny in itself)... but then he bolts out the door (casting a frightened look back at her) and RUNS down the street, clutching his can of Dr. Pepper! Ha. It really says a lot... like, you know, never compromise yourself for a relationship. And, oh yeah, Dr. Pepper is extremely awesome.

Wow, it feels weird to be saying nice things about commercials for once. Don't worry... I won't do this too often.
