I think I was on Ramblin' Rod two times, maybe three. I can't be sure to tell you the truth. Most likely because I was a little kid and also because I was so incredibly shy that anyone shoving a microphone into my terrified face would be enough for me to block out those memories for a good 2 decades.

I always thought the coolest kids got put in the very top row. And the most special person was not only in the top row, but also the one seated to the far right next (or left, I guess, if you are sitting down) next to Ramblin' Rod himself. Never once did I get the privilege of sitting there. But that's probably a good thing since I would have clammed up and been the pooper of that party.

One time -- one in which I was probably 7 -- he was asking all the kids in my row those 2 famous questions, "Name? Where are you from?" and I remember saying, "Jennifer. Oregon." Well, duh. Hi, everyone here is from Oregon. I guess it happens to a lot of kids, but obviously I wasn't the sharpest crayon in that box.

Also, remember the dancing Chuck E Cheese gang? Those guys were so rad!

And of course... smile winners. I remember once my 2 cousins won that and I was left in the stands with all the loser smile kids. You know, looking back, it explains a lot! Nah, just kidding. I <3 you, Ramblin' Rod! Thanks for making weekday mornings fun and full of cartoons!
