SEE JANE RUN

Starring: Joanna Kearns, John Shea
Original Airdate: 1995
Type: Drama/Woman In Crisis

Joanna Kearns is in a lot of these woman-in-peril movies. I am not sure why.

See Jane Run is the story of a woman named Jane, who one day suddenly finds that she has no idea who she is. Memory = gone. She doesn't know where she lives, but she does have a ton of money in her pockets, and oh yeah -- there's blood all over her dress. WTF, indeed.

At the hospital, the doctor declares that Jane doesn't have any lumps on her head and is probably suffering from some trauma-induced amnesia thing. Then Lex Luthor Jane's husband shows up at the hospital and is all "I'm her husband." He seems like a pretty good guy. He takes her home. He puts her to bed. He gives her some medicine. Soon, Jane is so loopy that she's sleeping all day and can't think straight. Her ratass of a husband, Michael, has hired a woman to "help" Jane in her recovery, but this woman is basically Nurse Ratched the second. And then Jane starts to have these weird dreams... memories....

One day, Jane stops taking her meds and begins to put the pieces together in the puzzle that is her life. She discovers that Michael is a big fat liar and that the blood on her dress? Oh yeah -- that was his. She was going to leave him! But he fought with her. And bumped his head. And so did she. And then the amnesia thing happened. All along, Michael's been drugging her so that she won't remember he's evil (he's done other horrible things that I won't go into). Michael even tells Jane that Jane had killed their daughter, which sends Jane straight down the mental tubes... until she comes to discover her daughter's alive. Confused yet? Oh yeah, this is definitely a mental thriller. It's a story of empowerment and fighting the impossible. Also, moments of hilarity ensue when Jane has a storyboard-style flashback of her life in pictures and sees photos of herself that were used in the Growing Pains theme song. Priceless.
